Inland Northwest Early Learning Alliance
The Inland Northwest Alliance for Early Learning is a volunteer coalition made up of leaders who bring their own unique area of expertise to finding local solutions. It is based upon a belief that a collaborative approach is the only way to make progress. There are many reasons children are not prepared to start School, so we address the problem from many different angles.
The Inland Northwest Alliance for Early Learning works towards helping the children who are not quite ready to start kindergarten and works towards keeping them in school throughout its entirety. The Alliance has set up four core elements to help children succeed. The elements include the improvement of the quality of early learning programs, improving access to health care, offering support by connecting families to resources and, finally, by increasing services to young children with special needs.
Community-Minded Enterprises (CME), a member of the Inland Northwest Early Learning Alliance, will spend the next year reaching out to families with small children as part of a $27,500 grant provided by Thrive by Five Washington. EVENTS
Blockfest is an interactive exhibit that provides families with young children under the age of 8 with a rich, hands-on math and science learning opportunity. The exhibit has been shown to increase parent knowledge of early development in the areas of math and science education, while providing opportunities to increase social skills and literacy opportunities for young children.
Above is a picture taken at the BlockFest event held in March at Gary Middle School. This was an amazing oppurtunity for children to learn math and science using blocks. Parents were also given an oppurtunity to learn more about kindergarten registration for their young ones. For more information on BlockFest, please check out our Flyer.
The “Love. Talk. Play.” campaign aims to surround parents of children birth to age 3 with simple messages about three key things all parents can and need to be doing with their children every day: love, talk and play. Shaped by information from national early learning experts, conversations with parents and input from the and state partners, the campaign reaches out to parents with these messages and ways they can take advantage of everyday moments.
